LA NiteLife's Favorite Cocktail Drinks Recipes Page

Hi, it's James Bartholet,
and here are my Popular Drink Recipes

Updated 04/17/07

Here's some terms that you will probably come across

TERMS:
Proof:                      This is a term used to describe what percentage of liquor is alcohol.
You can determine the percentage by dividing the proof amount in half.
                                  Therefore,
an 80 proof bottle of vodka is 40% alcohol.

Alcohol Level:      Is how they determine what percentage of the drink (minus ice)is alcohol.
Anything over 40% is gonna knock you on your butt.
If you had half a glass of Tequila and the other half filled with orange juice,
the drink would have an alcohol level of 20%.

Slam or Slam it:   To down (or drink) the entire contents.
Other Terms:        Down it, pound it, hammer it down, etc.

Shot Glass:             A small glass that holds exactly 1 1/2 oz of liquid.
Ordering a drink in one of these is called a shot, or shooter or jigger.

Sloshed:                   To be drunk.
Other terms:  Buzzed, Wasted, Faded, Hammered, Blitzed, Toasted.

Strain:                      To separate one part from another. Generally you strain
a drink from the ice, meaning you pour the drink out of
the glass, leaving the ice behind.

 Blow Job
Drink type: Shooter
You've probably seen this shot in a bar.
The person drinking it must use no hands (just their mouth) to pick up the shot from the table or bar, throw their head back and swallow it down.
What's left is usually a white mess around the persons mouth from the whipped cream, hence the name for the drink.
